In times of distress we're taught to surpress
to engorge in the feast of our emotions
to the brink of a purge, and then turn-
turn the frown upside down,
turn and turn until we're spinning so fast we crash and burn.
We're taught to hold ourselves back, stay on track
to give and never expect to take all the love we could hold in our hands.
We're told to surpress
indulge and digest
be our best- when put to the test
never assume nor anticipate
what comes next
we become less
and second guess
as we confess our sins
we give in and begin to digress
dressed our best
for a society that takes one glance
then swipes left.
So poetic
Words calm the pores, to strengthen it, to believe in life
