My Passage on Wood Road

Dedicated to Ms Helen Tsang,

Primary School Teacher

St. Joseph's College Primary School

The tree still stands there,

the tree of my life,

still tall and strong.

When I was little, body and mind, you sheltered me in your crown.

I felt the warmth from the sun, but shaded from the rays of pride and greed.

I felt the sadness from the rain, but kept from the thirst of love.

I felt the roughness from the wind, but was moved by its power to move forward.

When I was little, body and mind, you took me up to the top of your branches.

From there I learn the distance to my future. I see the dangers along the path.

From there I receive the warmth of love and care. I feel the pangs of sadness and darkness.

As I grew older, body and mind, I took the tree of life and kept it in my heart.

From its wood, I made a box to treasure all that I have received and felt.

From its wood, I made a frame to manage the portrait of my life.

Forever I will remain on this tree, and this tree in me.
