The Four Seasons

The autumn wind rushed through the trees.
The wind stirred up the leaves.
Brown, red and yellow mixed with blue
As they floated through the sky.

Rakes came out,
Children laughed among the leaves,
Ruining adults’ hard work.
Without complaint, they raked again.

The days grew colder,
The nights longer,
The sky turned grey
As snow began to fall.

Winter coats and sleds were broken out,
Snowmen and snowball fights ensued.
Adults’ caught the crossfire.
With a roar, the war began.

The weather warmed,
The sun shown down on the land,
Flowers budded among the greenery,
Spring love was in the air.

Mops and wash buckets joined the fray.
Kids’ picked flowers,
They ran through the fields.
Parents accepted them with smiles.

Heat waves flowed in.
Sun scorched down,
Water was essential,
Summer vacation here we come.

Swimsuits were finally worn.
Kids got out of school,
spending their days swimming.
Parents were relieved for the break.

All four seasons have come and gone,
The cycle starts anew
Forever and ever.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Just thought about the seasons when I saw the first leaf of the season float past my window.
