The first thing that came to my mind, when I think about my grandmother is her huge souvenir plates’ collection, I don’t know why that thing, because she do and collect so many things, but those souvenir plates are very particular, because they surround all of her kitchen and living room, even in her backyard, you can see a couple of them. Her collection had more than 150, but now is smaller, because when I was a little boy, I broke some of them. Most of them are white, because they're made entirely of porcelain, the others are made of plastic, copper and marble. Every time that me and my family travel, when we see some souvenir plate, we remember her, and we quickly buy it and give it to her. Even though she has some expensive plates in her collection, where she can obtain a lot of money by selling them, she doesn’t want to get rid of them, because they have a special meaning for her. When my family ask her why she doesn’t want to sell them, she always says that they are part of her effort, because every time she travels she saves a lot of money in order to buy a lot of things, including her souvenir plates’ another thing she says is that those plates are like a huge and vivid connection to her past memories, which are always wonderful. I also have a lot of good memories because of those plates, because one time, when I was visiting New York City on a school trip, I bought her a New York City souvenir plate, and when I gave it to her, she began to cry, because she was so happy that even though it was a school trip, she crossed my mind. When we ask her why se began to collect this kind of souvenirs, she replied that it was a good and cheap way to have a little piece of the places she visited. We’re still not sure if she will buy more of this plates, or that she will buy like three or four per year, before her dead maybe she will get rid of them, maybe she will pass them to someone of my family, we'll never know, but something that we know, is that she left us her legacy and her intelligent words, but mainly, the immense love that she has to all of her family, friends and others.
