Look At Me

Will you look at me?

I mean really look at me…

past the hazel eyes,
the freckled skin,
my supple curves.

Would you know
how many tears
stained these cheeks?

Would you see
the bruises
just beyond my hips,
cutting into my heart?

Would you see a woman
aching,
craving for a love
she can’t quite grasp?

Still I wait
for the chance
to give my heart
to another whose
will beat for me.

the bruises
just beyond my hips,
cutting into my heart?
