Who I Am Hates Who I’ve Been

You can hate who I used to be

because so do I;

she was a rotten person.

But don’t dare despise

the person I have become

because I know

she has a good heart.

I will still have trouble

with my sharp tongue.

I will do selfish things.

I will still be human,

but you have to forgive me

when I fall to sin.

Don’t hold it against me;

I’m still like everyone else.

Nothing changes overnight.

Don’t dare condemn me

because I won’t care

what you think.

Christ forgave me

because He loves me.

That’s all I need to know.
