An Angel in Disguise

Folder:
My Broken Heart

I was a breath of heaven

falling from the sky

into your arms.

Whether you saw beyond

my beauty to my purpose,

it remains unclear.

My wings had seen

their share of wear

and the tearing

may have confused you.

And what kind of cherub

would speak

the “lies” your ears

told you to (dis)believe?

Did you not know

I was as fallen as you,

as broken and

torn apart by pain?

Angels aren’t meant

to wander the world

until they are ready

to display divinity.

It was not my time

and that is why God

brought me back to Him.

Look out for my return

with pristine wings

and a heart equipped to love.
