One With Nature

Just when I think
I can't hurt any more,
it falls on me like a deluge.

I sit outside with nature
and let the tears slowly come.

My pet turtles watch me,
peeking over the waterline.

I'm sure they are just hungry
and begging me for food.

But I can't help thinking
their pensive looks
are commiserations.

I hear the cooing dove,
the wailing limpkin,
the screeching coot.

And I think "I know, guys,
I feel the same way."
