Toes curled in the sand;
eyes fixed on the horizon.
The warm waters draw me in,
and I ease into the sea.
The undertow makes me drift
away from the coast.
When I lose sight of the shore,
the waves swallow me.
The current pulls me
into the ocean depths.
I am drowning in a watery grave
when suddenly the swell breaks.
A calmness sweeps over me,
and the tide calls me home.
