Moving the Masses

Everybody have to see him, feel him,

Listen to the rich timbre of his oratory...

He tears into our mind's membrane like a wizard;

A multifaceted euphoria energized  by

Stomping feet,the velocity of his voice

Illuminates the hope in us, the faceless masses;

We dance around him like troops in a trance,

His words cut into the air like a dove's song,

Creeps like jazz in the clubs.

But five years on, we're still hurdled in the corner,

Still in that world of utopia,baptized in fire,

Baked in balm, we lament of the missed opportunity;

And still we kiss the ground on which he stands,

Time in our guard gradually wearing out.
