Turpentine pt. II: Drift

Extended Poetry

Your room is so vacant

You've left it for good

But not for good

For soon you'll be back to claim its presence

Its emptiness is usefulness

Oh, Kayla, so gorgeous, you're forever mine

We flow like canoes down a river of love

A river of our fantasies

My precious queen, in my embrace

So cozy and warm, so lazy and worn

I'll hold you through the cold

As it rusts upon your shoulders

I'll carry your weight, I'll pull your half

oh, love of mine, through thin and thick

Through tears and bleat, through start and end

Through life and death, be mine forever

Yet again, I have to settle for the bronze

I have to let you go, another month without you

The bombs were dropped onto the distant grass

Far below, far under our eyes, so careless

Far under where our eyes can care

Oh, how the grass is greener after this high hill

The light is brighter, the fire is higher

As I wait here for you, on the other side of the fense

As I try to peek over to the other side

I cannot see her in the midst of all the cloudy crowd

Oh, live on my baby dear, live on
