Egg Wrinklings

And I cracked the earth upon the pan

And splashed the yolk onto my bread

Such a sour milk for a boy like me

Like a sponge that's coughed up too much dust

Or a fawn that's shattered mirrors flush

The earth is but an egg

Unwrinkled and unstirred

The earth is only one more lip to fold

And one more star to blind the naked eye
