Internal Fear*Published* journal and Carved in Sand Mag

Published Pieces

Fear eats me alive in your presence,

your voice takes me back in time,

small child, pertrified of the storm.

Memories, nightmares

flood my soul,

seep into familiar cavernous cracks,

where I hear the echo

of every word you ever spoke to me,

every twisted lustful touch

at the hands of a supposed loved one,

undeserved trust.

That little girl

was never allowed to mature

beyond the experience.

She is always there,

masked behind the illusion

of a needy, all-too-forgiving adult.

If only the bitterness arbored

would release

as easily as you invaded

and disregarded me.

That child,

now and forever...

resides within me.

This reminds me of ALONE by Edgar Allen Poe. It's less refined, more raw if you will. I like that it expresses that moment. The one that haunts you for a lifetime. I've been there. Not a place many people go and definately not a play that anyone wants to go. Your life experiances give you poetry more meaning. They also make you stronger than most. Great job.
