Stephen Hawking, the highly esteemed theoretical physicist and cosmologist, says in his book “The Grand Design” that there is no God because-

1. Hawking’s first argument against God can be summarized by saying that God is simply unnecessary; that the idea of a Creator has historically been substituted for true knowledge about reality, but today we know better. Hawking writes, “Ignorance of nature’s ways led people in ancient times to invent gods to lord it over every aspect of human life.”

2. Hawking is affirming an eternal universe or eternal multiverse (an ensemble of universes), which is definitely one of the only two possible choices for existence, the other being God.

3. Hawking believes that natural laws cannot be “violated” in any way, and thus the God of the Bible who is reported to perform miracles cannot exist. But why must this be the case? Why can’t the God who created the universe and all its natural laws suspend them when He chooses?

However, I humbly disagree with Mr. Hawking. Here are some of my original points, which support the view that there is God:

1. I think science should accept the existence of God because the universe cannot be created so perfectly by nature itself.

2. The scientific explanations of how the planets are created seem illogical to me.

3. If the universe were created by accident and without any logical reason, then there would be so many mistakes and imperfections in nature. For example, there would be half, incomplete, square or triangular shaped or broken planets. But, there are no mistakes in the design of the gigantic universe and it is the proof of the fact that God has created everything!

4. No living organisms including the humans and animals are unnecessary in the world.

5. There is a perfect food chain for each being.

6. When we want to build a house, we plan to make it a perfect one; so, the works are distributed properly to the qualified workers. Similarly, for example, like all the other animals [including the humans] the crow is also a worker in nature! It works as a ‘natural sweeper’ by eating the waste and cleaning the environment. In a word, the crow is created by God so that it can perform its duties properly in the world. This point is similar to the point no. 4 above.

7. If science cannot prove the existence of God, then it does not mean that there is no God. Science is still a child as compared to the forthcoming knowledge that the scientists need search.

8. The scientific explanations about the Big Bang are not absolutely acceptable since science tries to logically guess but cannot be exactly sure about the exact and minute incidents, which took place during that time billions of years ago!

9. The existence of God is a matter of feeling! It is not a formula of algebra that we sit down and prove! If we carefully observe the humans, animals, nature etc., then the existence of God can certainly be felt. Say, I mentioned in one of my Facebook posts that the 4 fingers of our hands are located side by side but one finger, that is, the thumb is much away from other fingers, structurally small and much different compared to other fingers. Now, it would be foolishness to say that the location of the thumb is such by coincidence. God knows it well that if all the fingers in the hands were of same size and structure, then it would be rather difficult or impossible for us to hold anything or do any work! So, He placed the thumb of our hands in the distance. It would be clearer if I explain it in a different way. As the parents become exceedingly cautious about the newly born baby, its spontaneous feeding, walking, talking etc. are carefully monitored by them, likewise, God has given the specific formation, shape and structure to the humans and all the animals by keeping their overall well-being, advantages and easiness in mind!
