There’s a butterfly in my closet
that reminds me of you.
After all these months
it’s hard to believe it was true.
I really should go let it out really soon.
It’s spent such a long time inside its cocoon.
There’s a butterfly in my closet that reminds me of you.
There’s a folder I keep
full of memories of you and me.
And some things inside it
no one else ever can see.
Butterfly wings couldn’t carry me away.
And butterfly kisses won’t make it okay.
Sometimes nothing can conquer the memories of you and me.
There’s a butterfly in my closet
that reminds me of you.
I never have been very good
at deciding what to do.
I should spread those wings and just let them flutter.
But when I think about it my heart starts to sputter.
There’s a butterfly in my closet that reminds me of you.
hey Jerry...
I really like the butterfly metaphor. This is another awesome poem. I can relate to some of these feelings. Great job, keep writing & keep the faith. Take care, & Peace.
