You are my sand.
When wet you hold me together.
When dry you run thru my hands.
The harder I try to hold onto you.
The more of you that runs between my fingers.
I try to mold myself to fit you.
I try to be all that you need.
We took the time to build a castle between us.
But all I can do is stand and watch the waves knock down all we have built.
All I am left with is sand in my shoes and fading memories.
As I stand there and watch you clip thru my hands.
My hands turned white from the grip I have on you.
My fingers rubbed raw from trying to hold you.
My memories tired from trying to remember.
I watch as the sun fades into the water.
As the sand slips between my raw fingers.
I watch the waves ebb after they have destroyed our castle.
I watch the stars twinkle and try to renew my hope.
I watch the moon rise to take the place of the sun.
I see in that moon your face looking at me.
Your eyes and your mouth smiling at me.
Trying to comfort me and my pain.
I see you there in front of me, but my arms cant reach.
I sit in the wet sand that once held us together.
And I watch you slip between my fingers.
