The Killer

The Killer
By Mark Spencer

I've been searching for a killer
With notches on his gun.
And if I ever track him down,
His killing days are done.

His MO has remained the same
Since all of this began.
Each step I take in his pursuit,
The more I know the man.

Somehow he stays one step ahead
Though I’m right on his heels.
Each time the killer takes a life,
There’s more that he reveals.

I have almost caught up to him,
His days are getting short.
The killer’s next bloodthirsty plan,
Will be the plan I thwart.

For the wolf is getting restless,
He’s on the prowl again.
He has chosen his next victim,
The hunt will soon begin.

Yet once more, I arrive too late;
Another victim dead.
But I’ve got the killer cornered,
In the ally ahead.

As he steps out of the shadows,
I’m shocked by what I see;
Confronted by my darkest fears,
For the killer...is me.

Nice

This actually made me think of "Dexter," the showtime series. He hunts down and kills murderers...but then he realizes the parallel between himself and the hunted.
