Oozing charm, it crawled its way
slowly and tantalisingly
under your skin.
It expressed a need to feel loved,
so much so that
to be everything was its dream.
To feel that you adore it more
than anything you ever held close.
You craved it more and more,
believed and trusted it to
reciprocate your innermost joys.
It wants and expects too much of you
and the animal with emerald eyes
emerges from the light.
A prisoner trapped by its doubts and anger,
you try to reason.
Stinging retorts are all you get
as you try to run away.
Dressed up in iron fist,
your core crumbles with every blow.
Where is it now? The thing that you treasured so.
I like the way you express yourself. You are very deep in your writing style. You seemed to capture the essence of this poem well. Good write.
