in some future society
speaking blind to its own prejudice
it'll be taught how backwards we were
they'll swear they're progressing, too,
like we do

don't ask, don't tell
i don't want to know
if armored tank squirms
do what makes them comfortable
so if it's blacks, do we jim crow?
..didn't think so

i'm saying this not to cheerlead war,
but on principle

people throw around the word ignorance
to describe this phenomenon
maybe for some it's true, distant to the setting
but how many want to know?
and can you tell me a slave owner didn't know better
didn't have basic soul and intelligence
couldnt' see the pain and suffering walking in chains
didn't feel love vanish in hateful words

i can see we're teleprompted
but does it excuse all words but of the writers
it's true the grey line stops with them
at the strings they're clearly orchestrating

when will we stop stealing others dignity for our own selfish desires to gain
monetary prosperity
idealogical control
a fountain of youth
just to sit around

well most people get what they worked hard for
and a few of us who fight it, they try to drag along
in short, we all suffer

they say i've got a crazy idea, misled or seeking harm
when i say "i don't know, nobody has to have control"
