In The Years Since To have someone to love
and not lose the feeling,
even as the feeling's no longer met,
even as they're beating you to death,
is a great feeling
more powerful the fists, love,
which proves it's better to love this way
then to love another no more.
Just as great a feeling,
magnifying the first one
and proving it's better not to stay,
is to have the feeling of walking away
from someone as your hearts tugged,
providing love they can't give.
Not vanished cause the feeling's no longer met,
but because they're beating you to death.
It's a rule that doesn't just apply
to facing metaphorical fists' flight.
