he said come with me and see
follow the follower
entered the temple to visit
the house of mirrors
i said hi, tried to be friendly
now if you'd please let me finish
ev'ryone threw stones at me
to keep from shattering their image
with one pebble i broke them all down
and a lengthy silence commenced
and heard what i thought was a pin drop
then the clattering of fragments
they screached come with me and see
follow the follower
enter the temple of profit
the house of mirrors
i couldn't believe that in strife
they clung to the cracks for dear life
the stained glass windows saw red
bathed the hall in midnight
and said come down on your knees
follow all of these
enter the temple and profit
my house is your house
and the fragments all agreed
follow and you will lead
but i turned away and laughed
the clammer astonished
and so confused
as if value
was theirs to lose
was to be gained
then one big voice
bereived like guilt
acknowledged one
out of each ten
in jest obscured
gave generous
a knew meaning
and they believed
and i believe,
a low voice said,
don't turn back now
as i stepped out---
i got home and sat up thinking
is any hope in the distance
and what of tomorrow then
can possibly be made
i heard a knock upon my door
a face i'd never seen before
he poured a bag of sand out
and said come walk with me
he showed me a small beach offroad
he said those who see say its small
i said i never saw it before
and he said exactly
-then i was told we'd meet again
i asked him, 'where and when?'
responded 'where ever we stand,
because you kept on walking'
'..through the mirrors'
