Everywhere is stolen land
I'm not excusing it
It's just something to think about
Because, really, is there a statute of limitations
On stolen things?
On having been massacred,
Raped,
Enslaved?
On having been king?
On having been sin?
Now, it's always someone with the upperhand
Within the group that it's said
Has the upper hand
And always someone with the almost-as-upperhand
In the group that has a the lesser one
Only in the group that has no hand
Is there none with power over fathers, daughters, mothers, sons
Controlling the shares that masses take the blame
And also suffer for
And today's victim is just as easily
Tomorrow's victimizer
Again, if we pin the actions of those with the upper hand
On the group.
Many will follow the crumbs, though,
Where ever they lead
Making us to pick up some blame,
too.
But, still, it's true
Tomorrow's victimizer
Was some yesterday's victimizer
Today's victim,
Will rise and fall,
Someday and another
Everywhere is stolen land
That's not excusing it
It's just something to think about
When there is no statute of limitations
On stolen things..
How can we fix it,
It's something to explore,
When we can't start over,
When everyone has something
That isn't theirs,
Though some big, some small,
Everywhere is stolen land
That's not excusing it,
Nor excusing the more recent past,
Nor the things that will come now,
Nor come next..
It's just something to think about
When there is no statute of limitations
On stolen things..
