Now, my heart cannot wait for it's final beat

Some fifty or sixty years down the road

However long the blood continues to flow

I cannot wait on the Lord to take me away



My impatient soul speaks louder than I

My unchained feet tire from the long run

Though he decides all the days of my working lungs

I cannot wait on the Lord to take me away



No, my eyes don't seek what this life may bring

No, my hands do not grab for all that he gives

Yes, he's given me one whole life to live

But I can't wait on the Lord to take me away
