Never was there a guy so good at leading on a girl
So good at the game we like to call him IRL
He arrived in town with a guitar in his hands
Playing every song in his head
His glasses sat high up on his nose
And his hair was neat with a nappy flow
How high can the sycamore grow?
Look at him and you will know
His legs, long with bone and skin
And his ego steadily grew within
The size of his head made his body seem small
As he stood there up against the wall
A man was displayed all over him
Yet a boy still lived inside of him
Sometimes he walks around as if he’s confused
Looking left and right without a clue
And you’ll never know the truth
Cause you’ll only see what he wants you to
All you can see is the warmth in his eyes
When, really, he’s as cold as ice
He’s famous for putting a smile on your face
And breaking your heart just the same
His arms move with their own haste
And make their place around your waist
He’ll do his best to set at fire in you
And not mention the girl he’s exclusive to
Even in between all his lies
He won’t hesitate to treat you right
Despite all his imperfections
There are two sides to his reflection
Although you’re not the only one he’s thinking of
He’s quick to make you feel loved
Be it a hug or two every day
Or a joke to put a “smile on your face”
Oblivious, you can see past his lies
And see the beauty in his eyes
But all that glitters ain’t gold
There’s still a darkness inside his soul
He’ll dismiss the ones that care the most
For friends that soon morph into foes
And there he goes looking so confused
Not sure of what he’s supposed to do
So he runs back to you feeling hopeful
Cause he knows your love is unconditional
Holding a grudge won’t help at all
Being angry makes you feel like you’re at fault
Who has that kind of power to make you feel guilt?
And mentally hold you against your own will
His nonexistent grip has put you at an emotional block
So throw out that idea of putting him on lock
Playing his guitar, just as innocent
Who is he to play you around like this?
Instead of pushing him away at a distance
You bow down and let him in
He’s the type to prey on your weaknesses
And at the same time cause you happiness
It’s not sad that he’s playing this game
It’s sad he doesn’t know that he’s to blame
He’s not heartless, nor does he not care
It’s just embedded in his character
If this is the nature of his ways
Is it safe to say he’ll never change
I don’t care if his nature is cruel
All I know is he makes me feel beautiful
