Fifteen

Haunted by the past
never really here
love is just an illlusion

It's men you should fear

Beloved sister, stay quiet
He'll only pass you by

After all,
He's just like every other guy

Feeling so brainwashed
assumption like a drug,
Over-time with the addict,
in a household so snug

Sit back and watch
Fifteen years coming undone,
Just fifteen years,
All too young.

poems

reading several of your poems. brought back memories of my teen years, and some of the poems I had written.
Oh those poems. So different from now. Yet I remember. I really enjoyed rerading yours, (much better than mine)
At fifteen I recall hearing those same words, oh those boys. sometimes I think love is just an illusion. nice work.

Thank you!

Thank you! It does feel like a whole different world now in comparison to when I wrote this. I can't wait to get more of my newer poems posted as well. Fifteen is a tough age, especially when you're a hopeless romantic thinking you know it all!
