What is a kiss?
Is it simply two people
pressing their lips together?
is it just a thing
moms place on their siblings cheeks?
Or is it something special?
Is it just a sign expressing your love towards
that someone you really love?
Or is it simply sinful tongues
with a person you think you like?
Can it be something and nothing?
Is it really reasonable,
that such a plain thing
can mean so little or so much?
It is, you see,
to me it is a key,
into my heart,
into my soul,
It is sharing my life-giving breath,
my essece and yours too.
So kiss me mi amor,
and you will see.
That a kiss to me is something very special
treasured in the coffin of my soul forever.
Not just a thing, meaning nothing.
Hold it in your heart my dear.
Dont take it for granted.
Everytime we smooch,
remember this and you will see
The burning fire in my soul for you
So when we kiss,
think of what a kiss is!...
What is a kiss?
great work.
A kiss is just a kiss ... not my line, someone else's. Many classic works celebrate the kiss ... it can be explored infintely, for each kiss is unique. Tell us more, o poet... just don't kiss me right now, thanks. "treasured in the coffin of my soul forever" ... IMHO, this is a discordant image, surely I would choose a more romantic forever bin than the cold clammy earth. Kisses are alive and vibrant, not dead and mouldering. I won't suggest an alternative, this is your poem. Sure, a coffin may be what you want, it's your poem, but it's my critique. Keep those lips puckered and that poetry pen moving. Maybe you'll tell us more about your kisses as you continue to experiment. Nanook
