Or even thank you
We expect
People to
Just give us things
And never truly
Appreciate them
For what they do
Tell me society
When exactly
Did this
Become
The accepted
Thing to do
Tell me

Happened to
A little gratitude
It sounds as if the writer is
It sounds as if the writer is at a point of exasperation about life, and the rigors of giving unconditionally without ever a thank you or interest in restoration of the spirit of giving, which is unfortunately something we all much replenish for ourselves...'me' time being of great value in a world of so much stress all around. I give you my gratitude for such a poem to remind me of my own need for self regeration!!
...and he asked her, "do you write poetry? Because I feel as if I am the ink that flows from your quill."
"No", she replied, "but I have experienced it. "
