My Final Chapter

Words Intertwining.

Where you left off,

I began.

And when I would stop,

You'd start again.

With no hesitation,

Not a moment's seperation,

Between you and I.

Then it all came to an end.

Not even a goodbye.

With no more laughter,

Only tears.

As silenced memories,

Filled the years.

And I waited,

But all in vain.

Then you should up,

But with nothing to gain.

Then time went by,

Another two years.

One last chance,

Never mind my fears.

But you moved on,

As did I.

Now I'm thinking of the past,

Watching minutes, hours, days go by.

Too many wasted nights,

Thinking of you.

With the vodka setting in,

My mind deceives me with thoughts untrue.

This is my final chapter.

Maybe now I'll move on.

With my thoughts focused clearly,

And my heart not being torn.

The saddest ending,

To the happiest beginning.

Author's Notes/Comments:

My goodbye. I wrote it about a month ago.  Anyway, I'm sure you know it's you.

I'll give you the good advice a very good older female friend

gave to me. When one relationship busts up instead of sitting home and drinking away your misery go out and find two more boyfriends to fill your days with joy. Is easy to get over someone if another is paying you attention and lavishing praise on you. You realize that old adage our mothers always were touting there are plenty of other fish in the sea. You are so young to be wasting yourself on memories of some old boyfriend. By the time I was your age I'd had my heart broken so many times I stopped keeping count. It gets better. You get wiser and you grow. I hope writing this poem helped you. Sincerely, Melissa Lundeen.
