Breaking Up
Dear 2004,
For the past twelve months
You and I have traveled
Down the same road together
We’ve had our share of heartaches,
We’ve had our times of verbal battles,
And no matter who tried to break us
We stayed together without a doubt.
So today is a good time
For us to part ways
Let's say goodbye, like we said hello
I will think of you fondly.
I've got a new love now.

Don't be hurt by that.
It's better this way.
I have to move on.
And we both know
We can't turn back the clock.
The past remains a simple faded memory.
I've learned a lot from this year long relationship.
I believe it's made me a better person for the future.
I’ll look back on you now and again

An interesting way of looking at a year I must admit, but a valid one none the same. I like the style it's written in and with. I hope you continue to write, you've got a good perspective, glad that we can share it with you.
