I dug up this flesh
from years ago
kept it white
shiny
clean
preserved in the finest
because I knew,
I would need it back
I always knew I would have to go back
to all the decay I came from
Like laundry day,
when the dirty stuff is all laid out
I can make amends
I can tell the Devil I didn't mean
to make the deal
this mouth may yet smile
Either way, it is full of blood
I am always bleeding
Because I remember.
I remember being outside alone
with my things
the few tiny things I owned
and looking towards the horizon
for an answer
Do you know what came?
A great emptiness
and my soul hasn't fluttered since
I can't find the wings of my youth that
made me want a future
My thoughts are rabid
Tenacious
all over the place
I don't even know how to end this poem
So I won't.

omg I love it! it's so real and raw and gutsie! "I don't even know how to end this poem, so I won't" <3
the only thing I would chnage is I would remove right from the end of "I can make amends" because I feel it makes the line stronger
the start is so elegant and relatable! Like we all know we carry our pasts with us and even when we chnage our old paterns are there should we want/need to resort to them. This piece is so human, don"t be down on it my dear!

Yes, the line IS stonger - good call by She who Runs With Rabbits - also: write it, let the words fall where they may - there is great wisdom here. And personal growth is motivated by the never ending past. Turn around, shout, "Fuck you!" then turn around and keep stepping. That's what I do. ~Lady A~
