It's Saturday night
and time to go out.
No fears, no cares,
nothing to worry about.
He's young and he's free,
but what he doesn't know,
Will affect those around him,
and bring us down low.
He drives down the road,
with some of his friends.
Not knowing it will lead,
to his tragic end.
The building ahead,
shows promise and fun.
With drugs that will take him,
and his mind on the run.
Later that night,
with nobody there.
He walks on the street,
his mind spinning without a care.
One step past the line,
and his world in a rush.
Light and then darkness,
leave loved ones crushed.
One step past the line,
and everything lost.
They make you feel good,
but at what cost?
One step past the line,
and it couldn't be so.
That it all could be prevented,
with one simple 'no'.
One step past the line,
and everything wasted,
On something so sweet,
yet never tasted.
One step past the line,
and all of us grieve.
It is time for him to go,
time for him to leave.
We can cry a river.
We can cry a sea.
But nothing will ever help,
to bring him back to me.
