Yo to the Pope
By Muriel Palanca
Pope John Paul was a super fly guy.
It’s just too sad he had to die.
He was born long ago and he was good in school.
He loved to play soccer and he followed all the rules.
He risked execution to do seminary classes.
Now that he’s pope, he performs lots of masses.
He was the first non-Italian in 500 years.
And when he was chosen, we cried happy tears.
He traveled the world and one million miles.
And though he was old, he traveled in style.
He made 1996 the year of the child.
Because God loves children and kids make us smile.
He kissed lots of babies and shook lots of hands.
He captured our hearts. Yeah, he was the man.
He was in Rome, when he got shot.
But somehow he lived cause of his faith in God.
He was such a good man cause he forgave
the man who shot him because he needed to be saved.
And though I never knew him, I can only hope.
That I’ll go up to heaven to say “yo” to the Pope.
this is an excellent piece!
