Roy G. Biv

Roy G. Biv is responsible

For making my life better

Roy G. Biv is admirable

He is a true trend setter

He gives me a beautiful rose

He kisses my blushed cheeks

We toasted with tin cans of coke

And said, “Alas, passion speaks”!

He gives me a juicy mandarin

And a small goldfish as a pet

He wanted to give me a carrot

But I asked for a flame instead

He gives me a sunny smile

A daisy’s center with no petals

He gives me a lemon pile

To make tea in a saffron kettle

He gives me razor blade grass

And money to buy some land

He told me about emerald glass

While holding a lime in his hand

He gives me a piece of the sky

And a periwinkle winkle

He gives me a translucent eye

And veins that swell and twinkle

He gives me a sapphire gem

Along with a navy uniform

That has azure on its hem

And a blueberry patch to adorn

He gives me a scented violet

Along with a succulent plum,

A grape not white nor red

And a lilac flavored gum

The reason I live

Everyday among beauty

Is because Roy G. Biv

Fulfills his constant duty

His duty is to brighten

My environment, my life

Putting a stop and an end

To classic black and white

A curious question: I have seen the name Roy G Biv before, but cannot remember where it was, or what significance if has (if, indeed, it is more than a given name). Could you please enlighten me a bit?
