ABC Poem on Rape

Another day has come

Bright lights awaken me

Captured and captivated

Doom cries and awaits me

Enthusiastic he seems

Fear courses through my veins

Grinning, he beams

Hate is in my pain

I look at this green bile

Jeering and taunting

Kissing me a while

Laughing, he’s haunting

Might doesn’t help me

“No” I scream wearily

Only the wind can hear me

Pounced on now more heavily

Quitting isn’t his affair

Rape was his goal

Stole from me without a care

Traumatized, I’m cold

Unclean I feel

Wiping frantically my tears

Visited again by his ghost

Xeno- is what he was

Young one who now boasts

Zephyr is the only witness

Author's Notes/Comments:

Just in case, this poem wasn't inspired by a personal experience. I just wanted to make an ABC poem and rape was the first thing that came to mind.

Excellent Abecedarian, it's a tough form and you've pulled it off very well. It's also quite evocative through its imagery... Very well done.
