I was born in the slum of the eighties Dade,
Where there were drugs sold on each block;
Riots initiated when brutalities were made
And the rapes occurred in Miami non-stop.
With each opportunity,
I believe in my community.
The product of two teenage newlyweds,
I was the Tenth of April at Northshore;
A cubby Asianesque baby turned heads,
In a world of commotion and vast uproar.
With each opportunity,
I believe in my community.
Born light to such a great city,
To shine over life of the unpretty,
And reveal with love and passion
The havocs as they always happen.
… I am Miami’s Son.
Yahwehs killed men who were white,
Calling them real children of the devil;
Abductions occurred as fast as light,
And Ted Bundy took Miami another level.
With everything that I own,
I cannot give up this place called home.
Hurricanes wiped from shore to shore,
Disintegrated business and homes,
We came together to rebuilt and restore
With each stick and each one of stones.
With everything that I own,
I cannot give up this place called home.
Born light to such a great city,
To shine over life of the unpretty,
And reveal with love and passion
The havocs as they always happen.
… I am Miami’s Son.
