The last night I held you

the stars were out to play

and the smell of your cologne

was dancing 'round my head



The last night I held you

my eyes were filled with tears

my arms were circled 'round you

with all my troubling fears



The last night I held you

your eyes were closed in sleep

and I gazed upon your handsome face

and could not help but weep

I feared the light of dawn

for the next day you would leave me

the next day you'd be gone

I made an image in my head

of you and I entwined together

lying in our bed

I knew that I would cry

and then the next day, I did just that

when we said our last goodbye...
