Help me to be
the kind of mommy
who remembers what it's like to be young,
and how much fun it is
to laugh and play and jump on beds.
Help me to believe
in the magic of tents
made from blankets and chairs,
and the endless possibilities
of a child's imagination.
Help me to remember
how good a cookie tastes -
especially when it's before dinner -
and how hard it can be
to fall asleep sometimes,
and that it's even harder to be good
when there's nothing to do.
And remind me
what a treat it is
to stay up a half an hour later
or play outside
just a little bit longer.
Please help me to be
the kind of mommy
I always said I would be
when I was a child.
Amen.
