I love my little butterfly,
Have you seen it flutter by?
It flew this way and that again
And then it landed on the pane.
Its wings are such a lovely hue,
Partly black and partly blue.
It sat there soaking up the heat
On tiny legs with tiny feet.
I'd like to house it in a pot
But Mother says that I must not.
To keep it here would be such fun
But Mother says it's just not done.
She says it should be free to fly
Up,up,away into the sky.
So if my butterfly you see,
Please, send it home back here to me.
As soon as I spotted the subject matter, you had me. As you know, I've written about these wondrous, mysterical, beautiful creatures myself. You really helped express your love for nature and its critters in it with your loving, caressing words. Great write, ma'am.
