When I want to make some checks,
You see, I always wear my specs.
The specks with specs indeed are showing,
I take them off and...whoosh...they're going!
If the dusting I'd ignore
I leave my glasses in the drawer,
And then I can't see where it's at....
(And stub my toe, trip on the cat).
When windows are all spots and flecks
I clean them by not wearing specs.
It's great the things that disappear
With no specs hanging from my ear!
So if you see me blankly stare
And pass you by as if not there,
Forgive me, please, if you can see
That absent are my specs from me.
CUTE! real cute!
I can feel the humor of this poem. It makes me laugh because I've worn glasses or contacts since kindergarten. It's nice to read about someone else going through it and not insulting the person(s) who can't see. Thanks for the write.
Eunice, I came looking for this poem. I've missed you. There was another poetry site that we both critiqued a while back but I left it and have sorely missed your and Chris's writing. I hope you add new ones to this site. You write so well and I miss hearing from you.
Jessica
Hi Eunice
Once again you have hit the nail on the head. This poem resembles me!!!
Peace Rob
I absolutely love this poem. I can't see a thing without my glasses. One day I was home in the middle of the week (instead of at school) and with all the light in the house, I noticed a lot of spider webs in a lot of corners. LOL I promise you I had never seen them before in the twilight of my usual at home time. This poem made me laugh. I really liked it.
Thanks,
Jessica
