MARBLEIZING
There is a lot to marbleizing; the streaks.
Veins and darenking, not to mention the
Hardening; opaue flesh and porcelain maps.
My thoughts of you gelled and went that way;
For this you were permanently statuesque in
My mind. And I held you all metallic.
Sometimes the fluid ocean gets hard and ice
Floes coalesce to form monuments to testify
To the real hard moments in eternity; when
And if the gods get capricious they might
Flash freeze us like this and who knows
When the thaw will come.
For this reason I will not hold you forever
In my mind as Rembrandt sees himself always
Wearing a red hat and I see you so beautiful.
Rigormortis is a function of poor circulation
And death is to look only at the past where
Beauty was entombed for a moment in marble
