ROCK N ROLL, O MY SOUL

ROCK N ROLL, O MY SOUL

Little Richard, that dishwasher preacher,

Was the architect of Rock and Roll;

Fats Domino was to Arthur Treacher

As fish n chips is to the food of soul.

Rockin n a Rollin, rockin n a reelin

Tip toeing on Elvis’ blue suede shoes;

Tell me honey, do you now have the feelin

When good ole Ray Charles sings the blues.

I know I’m a fifties dinosaur fossil

When I hear Love Me Tender, Love Me True,

Aint all those loud notes colossal , when

You shake my nerves and rattle my bones too.

Shakin a booty and wild  hip hop dancin

And scratchin a record aint no thing;

Compared to rockin and a prancing

And listenin to the Supremes sing.

Give me Ruth Brown and Ironin Board Sam

Sam Cooke. Little Anthony n the Imperials

That was the time of the Flying Purple People Eater

That swooped down to eat all our cereals.
