TRUE BELIEVERS

No one knows what the red dragon curled up in a drop
Of rainwater feels coming off the brow of Jesus’ baptized
Head or a puma’s whisker in the bath water of St. Francis.
There are so many ways the divine touches up and so many
Angels are missed unawares. How can literalists know that
The gecko on the wall is waiting for its soul make to return.
So much flesh muffles the messages of the light as it passes
From our skulls to the tip of our toes. It is so difficult to teach
The foot the light when it is constantly pressed into the dark earth.
Ships navigate by stars but they only meet at night by accident.
But those who lead us from darkness to light, knowing when we
Are ready, can use any haphazard method they choose to get us there.
Gypsies are assailed for their dubious divinations but I believed that
Voices come from the mouths of rocks and that atoms sing the
Songs celestial since their original birth from the divine mother.
What do we know except the ruminations of those in the halls of
Ignorance; true gnosis comes from the heart of a true believer. The
Piscean Age fished for them but so few were caught in the net.
