Tears coursing down a pale sad face
something rarely shown
by him who left no trace
Fading in and out
no memory of the boy
who walked alone in dream
never seeming to be awake
walking totally unseen
Once or twice
taking you by suprise
he awakens your soul
and then
opens your eyes
Only for a moment
no memories of him
The quiet and lonely soul
finally giving in
Here upon his burial
a book made of stone
telling the story of his life
all written down in poem
I his son knew him well
yet somehow i was under the spell
not remembering my father's expressions
barely holding on to his memory
by making graveyard confessions
I talked to him day by day
about how things were going
never knowing what to say
other than asking for forgivness
Of my past and what may
happen in the future
from my mistakes
that come but never
go away
My father's last words
were not in vain
although not bringing tears
my heart felt the pain
He passed away saying
"Its finally done
Son leave me
death has won"
He was right
death had won
nobody would remember
the man
accept for his son
who now carried on
in the footsteps of his dad
Opening people up but
didnt inheirit being sad
For I
raised as his child
was taught
To be happy and look past
all that was naught
This is an incredable poem. I know how it is to loose your farther and your poem could not have summed it up better. I have tried but failed to express my feeling in poems but this does that perfectly. Well done.

That was the most beautiful thing I have ever read. I think that you write the most incredible poems, you know how to break down a person and hit them straight in the heart. Don't stop writing.
Don't change a thing on this poem, it tells everything, how much you loved your father, how sorry you were for thee things you did. I can see you were really proud of him. Good write, very heartfelt.
i really like this...it was sad but made me smile. i can do some editing later if you like (i'm not sure about that "tears coursing" part) Anyway, you're improving each day and i love reading your poems!
