black boots

they match my black pants with

the buckles

and my black top

with the ruffles

my chain filled with skulls

adorn my neck

I love black but that

doesn't make me a wreck

'black is beautiful' I say

when they ask

if you don't like it

well, you can kiss my ass

I wear it everyday and go

to sleep with it at night

'I am also a strong black

woman' I yell with all my might

so I wear my black boots

all around town

the stuffed shirts, they all

put me down

but I don't care because I know

what's important you see

being yourself, being happy

and being me

so if they can't deal with something

as trivial as the color of my boots

they need to look the other way

or find something else to do

cause I will continue to wear

black even after I die

because that's what I like

that's who I am and I should never have to explain why...
