I find this poem very telling. From that perspective, it is great, and deserves the praise it has received. It would be suitable for a schoolbook in elementary, as it paints the spider as a skilled hunter of great prowess. You might correct the typos of struggle and foliage, and its, though.
The spider can evoke vivid images and prompt strong feelings in people, perhaps dread, fear, and revulsion. You might consider another poem, using imagery in a subtle manner, to weave a dark and challenging piece. That's the poem about the spider I want to read.
You have such a neat way of illustrating your ideas with crawly things, moving things, living things! lol I can really get the picture with your visuals so well-matched to your words. I still say that it isn't fair. lol
