Spider

Concentric circles, spokes of a wheel,

the spider waits motionless for it's next meal.

She feels its struggle, a  bug caught in her web.

It won't be much longer, before she is fed.

Quickly she approaches and attacks her prey.

He's wound and bound and tucked tidily away.

She repairs broken webbing from the battle she's won.

Then she'll set upon dinner, when her work is all done.

Til again in the foliage, herself she'll conceal...

the spider waits motionless, for her next meal.

Ms. Tinsley Thanks for visiting my poetry again and commenting. I always like to return the honour and read several again. I like this one, especially the line
"He's wound and bound and tucked tidily away."
Thanks for reawakening me to your work.

Always,

Michael

Hi, Kim!

I find this poem very telling. From that perspective, it is great, and deserves the praise it has received. It would be suitable for a schoolbook in elementary, as it paints the spider as a skilled hunter of great prowess. You might correct the typos of struggle and foliage, and its, though.

The spider can evoke vivid images and prompt strong feelings in people, perhaps dread, fear, and revulsion. You might consider another poem, using imagery in a subtle manner, to weave a dark and challenging piece. That's the poem about the spider I want to read.

You have such a neat way of illustrating your ideas with crawly things, moving things, living things! lol I can really get the picture with your visuals so well-matched to your words. I still say that it isn't fair. lol
