-The Old Couple

True love,

perpetual as the sea.

Relentless as the waves upon the shore.

An old couple sits together,

hand in hand.

Lovers forever more.

As the water wears the beach,

time has worn their bodies.

But not their love.

Wrinkled faces, weathered hands.

Hearts bound together

like the mourning doves.

He says to her,

"Do you remember when..."

And she answers, " Yes.",

before he can finish his thought.

So well she knows his mind.

It's not even a guess.

Together walking arm in arm

they stroll back home.

Remembering way back when

they first  met.

To their first stroll arm in arm...

and they are young , once again.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Seeing a  loving old couple together is a visual affirmation of hope.

once again...another poem that touched me. geez...i just wish my mom and step dad were this way. I mean, they no longer have that special bond if you know what I mean. I mean, if it wasnt for their marriage certificate, I wouldnt believe that they were married at all! But anywayz..great poem. I love it. Keep it up :)

aaaah... true love is not
proven until you have reach
this point - sit on this bench
besides the one you loved
gazed out at the shore
and say - 'remember when...'
truly romantic.
This is Beautiful - this too is my dream.
