Then It Snowed....
Once, when I walked my woods,
you were always on my mind.
Fresh days of spring, newly green.
Stifling summer days of humidity and heat.
Crisp days of autumn, decked in red and golds.
Even cold snowy white winter days.
Now these seasons haunt me relentlessly.
Reminding me of you in everything I see or do.
The smell of spring's fresh cut grass.
The enjoyment of a summer peach.
Burning autumn leaves, smoke curling skyward.
And, the crunch of snow under my boots.
Only cold, snowless days of early winter
give me rest from your memory.
Cause no beauty lives this time of year.
Although our love blossomed in the fall,
survived the winters, and thrived thru springs.
It died that one summer's August .
During the beautiful seasons,
I could not say good-bye.
Only in the bleak early days of winter
could I give up on love, give up on you.
It felt like a good time for love to die.
But then........it snowed........
......I still love you.
