To a friend

Folder:
First poems

When I look around me,
All that I can see,
Is people who follow bad paths,
That will lead to misery.

These paths are easy to travel on,
Crowded by people who are lost.
The other path is hard to walk upon,
And seems far to great a cost.

Because the harder path is longer,
It is made only for the stronger.
With slopes that are much steeper,
And cliffs that go far deeper.

But the places they lead to,
Are places of understanding.
Beautiful places for you,
To be stuck in awe staring.

Often I travel these roads alone,
With no one in sight.
But it's nice to see you on your own,
Keeping this path bright.

I try my best not to stray,
But you my friend will always stay,
On this path for countless days,
I wish you could teach me your ways.

You've been on this path for so long,
And I can see you've grown strong.
Keep taking this selfless track,
Don't ever think of looking back.

Because you'll find a place,
You have never been.
Then you will find the space,
You always wish you had seen.
