One Night

Outside our eyes met

As I walked indoors

She asked me to stay,

I could tell she wanted more

Not just my looks, nor my face

My personality allowed me in her space

We ventured to the casino area

And sat quietly at the bar

Talking about life, dreams, goals

Our ambitions so far

Now separated by time and distance

I want to rewind, turn back, try again, persistent

And again, resistance, blocks you and I from coexistence

Can you wake from a dream come true?

I hope not, because life won’t be worth living

Time won’t be worth keeping

Books not worth reading

Everything that I’ve done won’t be worth proceeding

When we make it through this

I’ll christen each day with a kiss

Understand the real meaning of bliss

By adding the E-S to your Miss

We’ll be together forever

Through every type of complication

We’ve passed the test,

Love's our cap and gown, we’ve graduated

Author's Notes/Comments:

This is my response to another poem called Distant Love.  It contains some of the events with a person whom I had the opportunity to meet earlier this year.  Comment Please.

One Night:

I hope you and your lover graduate to a long and steady relationship. With worthwhile words, and serious intent I am sure you and your love are meant to be. A great poem, well written, I like your style of poem and use of words.
