When you stand upon a cliff
And yell into the air,
You don't think before you speak,
You don't really care.
Emotion has a hold on you,
You scream and cry and shout.
Words issue forth, an endless flood,
From inside they pour out.
The rock wall standing opposite
Appears not to hear.
It does not seem to notice you
Though it is very near.
When you are done, your anger spent,
You turn to walk away,
But far away you hear a sound,
A soft and distant bay.
Your angry words come back at you,
Reverberating loud,
You hear them all a hundred times,
An angry, shouting crowd.
The rock wall standing opposite
Has gained a tint of red.
You, as well, are flushed,
Having heard the things you said.
You whisper an apology,
There’s nothing else to do.
You hear the rock wall murmur.
It replies: “I’m sorry too.”
this is so good. i really really like it. it makes you think before using angry words.
